MGM
Presents: “Reel Jesus”! We’re forming a new film and theology discussion group at Geneva that is open to ages 15 and up (note: some of the films may have an “R” rating). The theme this summer is “Reel Jesus: Looking at Saviors on the Silver Screen.” What do we expect from a “Jesus film”? How has Hollywood portrayed Christ-figures in recent years? Has the cinema replaced the church for delivering relevant and inspirational messages? These and other issues will be considered at MGM (Movie & a Good Meal). The series, hosted by Scott Roby, will run for five weeks from 6:30 – 9 p.m. on Wednesday nights in the Fireside Room or the Sanctuary (depending on the film). Bring a gourmet brown-bag supper of your choice and a beverage, get set to watch a two-hour film, and prepare to engage in some stimulating critiques and theological debates afterwards.
